La Santafereña is a "project" (ha!) of Lori de Ravello. I
my husband and two kids.
After a life-long love affair with classic kitscsh and
other funky folk art, I finally broke down and started
creating my own. In 2003 I launched La Santafereña
as an outlet for my creative urges.

What does "la santafereña" mean? Although not
widely used in New Mexico, la sanafereña means "the Santa
Fean". I picked up this term when I lived in Bogotá, Colombia
for a year in college.
What is the Peruvian connection? My wonderful
husband of 15 years is Peruvian. Whenever we visit Peru, we
scour the Mercados de Brujeria for cool stuff.
Why the fascination with Hispanic religious
imagery? Growing up in New Mexico and having lived in
different Latin American countries throughout my life, I
developed a strong appreciation and respect for religious
imagery and symbolism.
